Médecins du Monde (MDM) is an international solidarity association, which depends on the volunteer commitment of its members and medical professionals, in order to assist the health needs of the most vulnerable populations both in France and in 54 countries around the world.

Based on its medical experience, it bears witness to the obstacles in accessing medical care and denounces the violations of human rights.

MDM-F is currently working in 3 locations

• Nablus: Mental Health and psycho-social programs

• Jerusalem Governorate: Primary Health Care (PHC)

• Gaza: PHC, Orthopaedic surgery support, support of Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Basic Life Support training, Emergency drug and medical equipment donation

The Medical Coordinator participates in the development of MDM-F programs within the Palestinian Territories.

§ Contributes to building MDM-F program strategy in the Palestinian Territories

§ Evaluates on an ongoing basis the progress made in current programs, the relevance of program content with respect to the assigned objectives and the evolution in health conditions in the Territories

§ Decides, in conjunction with the General Coordinator, Technical Specialists, the Field Coordination team and the MDM-F desk and RM, on program reorientations and the medical infrastructure to be allocated to the mission

§ Actively participates in drawing up operational proposals for the newly-identified projects.

The Medical Coordinator is responsible for:

§ Ensuring coordination between the partners in Gaza and West Bank (MDM-F and Ministry of Health, PRCS, Palestinian Medical Relief Society, Directors of Shifa, European and Nasser Hospitals) for implementation of programs.

§ Coordination of visits of expatriate specialists with MDM-F desk, Field Teams and partners and ensuring adequate reporting and follow-up of visiting expatriate activities

§ Technical supervision of MDM medical teams in the Palestinian Territories

§ Follow-up of medical programs, including needs assessment in support to the field coordination teams, purchasing of medications in link with the logistics department, medical equipment and furniture/rehabilitation, training and Health Education activities

§ Ensuring medical accuracy of training and Health Education materials

§ Reorientation of training program and Health Education according to needs assessments and changes in context

§ Compilation of data/indicators from medical programs and monthly reporting of activities to MDM-F coordination team

§ Reporting and presentation of activities to key partners in Jerusalem, and if needed in the field

§ Technical referent for medical issues in Nablus programs

§ Drafting of the technical parts of proposals for donors and formal reporting to donors on the progress of medical activities

§ Participation in health meetings (AIDA, WHO, MoH) in West Bank and Gaza to understand and communicate health context in oPt.

§ Coordinate emergency responses in oPt, according to need, ensuring close coordination with other organizations working in the field (UN, ICRC, INGOs, Palestinian NGOs, MoH) in conjunction with HoM and with the field coordinators if appropriate

§ Ensure that occupational health standards are maintained for the safety of the MDM-F team

§ Participation in advocacy and communication campaigns, under supervision of the General Coordinator

§ Participation to maintenance of data collection and up-dated information on activities and local context

Profile:

- Physician

- Experience and/or knowledge in the public health field

- Experience in development and administration of training programs

- Experience in supervision and team management, if possible abroad

- Strong analytical capabilities

- Strong field experience under potentially hazardous safety conditions,

- Outstanding management and communication qualities

- Competency with Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint

- Knowledge of the Muslim world would be appreciated

- English spoken, written and read – French or Arabic would be assets
